Tony Pereira and Ira Ryan, who have a combined 15 years of framebuilding experience, have come together as Breadwinner Cycles. Melding their two complementary styles results in bicycles with a winning combination of form and function, delivered in eight weeks or less. The Breadwinner lineup of six custom steel TIG-welded bicycles are equipped with the best U.S.-made parts available and built in Portland, Oregon.

An avid cyclist for over twenty years, Ira is an accomplished racer and a cycle-tourist, and he’s worked as a professional bicycle mechanic and started two successful bicycle-related businesses. These experiences have contributed to his deeply passionate understanding for bicycle design and mechanics. Since 2005, Ira Ryan Cycles has built lugged and brazed road, cyclo-cross, city, touring and mountain bikes. A fixture at the NAHBS show since 2007, Ira Ryan Cycles won best City Bike in 2012 and Ira’s bicycles have been featured on the cover of Bicycling magazine in addition to many other media outlets.

Tony began building Pereira Cycles in 2005 after spending nearly 20 years in the outdoor and bicycle retail industry. As a lifetime maker and puzzle solver, Tony taught himself to build bicycles and now teaches others the craft as a guest instructor at the United Bicycle Institute. Tony has won numerous awards for his work, including best Road, Off-Road and Fillet Brazed bikes at the 2007 NAHBS, best Mountain Bike at the 2011 NAHBS and first place in the 2009 and 2011 Oregon Manifest Constructor's Design Challenge. He’s been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Paved, Mountain Bike Magazine and Bicycle Quarterly.
