About Us
Breadwinner Cycles was founded in 2013 by passionate, hardworking cyclists with an eye for fine craftsmanship. Since day one our mission has been to Build beautiful handmade bicycles for people who love to ride every day. That mission continues with every breadwinner built in our shop in Portland, Oregon. The beautiful bike town of Portland provides continuous inspiration from the hordes of enthusiastic roadies, adventurous gravel riders, thrill seeking mountain bikers, determined racers, and dedicated commuters that ride past our shop every day.
Tony Pereira
As one of the original founders of Breadwinner, Tony takes great pride in leading our team of cycling enthusiasts and keeping everyone focused on delivering an incredible experience to our riders. He also heads the production shop, builds our specialty tooling, refines our process, and welds every Breadwinner frame and fork. He grew up riding BMX bikes on trails and fire roads before graduating to the new sport of mountain biking in the 1980s. In the early 2000s, after working many years as a bicycle mechanic, he taught himself how to build bicycle frames and fell in love with the craft. He loves motorcycling, skiing and mountain biking (mostly with his son).
