We don’t have a wait list. We start working on your order within days of receiving it so we can finalize details like fit, design, frame options, parts, and paint. We aim to ship your new Breadwinner 12-20 weeks after the deposit is placed depending on our current workflow and availability of components. Unforeseen parts availability and production delays can occasionally result in longer delivery times. We maintain a stock of our most popular component offerings so that we can move to deliver new bicycles as quickly as possible.
There are 10 stock paint colors including gloss black, white, metallic silver, Italian red, medium blue, bright green, Eddy orange, Portland grey and brown. Browse our web site for examples. Each of these options includes our standard Breadwinner light blue accents on the seat tube, chainstay and downtube graphics. We offer custom colors and details on request starting at $250.
Yes! We offer virtually unlimited options for custom paint starting at $250 and up depending on number of colors, complexity and details requested.
Standard custom 2 color ($250): our standard dual panel paint scheme with any primary and secondary colors you would like.
Standard custom 3 color ($350):Our standard panel scheme with any primary, secondary, and accent colors you would like. More subjectivity within the scheme — we can delete panels, rearrange stripes and add a bit more fine detail.
Super custom 4-5 color ($450): Our standard panel scheme with any 4-5 colors you would like. The example shown below was inspired by the rider’s beloved Makita power tools.
Super Deluxe Custom ($550+):Pretty much anything goes! We’re not so interested in painting flames, cheetah print, skulls, or unicorns but if your case is compelling enough we could maybe be convinced. The paint scheme below was inspired by a wood duck!
We regularly riff and improvise on the standard 2 panel scheme to ensure that each bike that leaves the shop looks as unique as possible. Full-color mockups will be presented during the paint confirmation process to ensure that your bike turns out exactly like you see it in your imagination!
Yes. All of our bikes are custom designed and made to order to fit you and your riding style.
Within a few days of placing your order we will send over a questionnaire, which begins a conversation to guide us towards the design of a custom fit Breadwinner just for you. In most cases, we recommend consulting with a professional bike fitter in your area.
We highly recommend it but it is not entirely necessary. We have years of experience evaluating bike fits via email and phone. We will discuss what has worked and what hasn’t and use that conversation to guide us to meet your needs. In some rare cases you may need help from a local in-person fitter, but that is usually not necessary.
The benefits of a professional bike fitting can make it one of the best investments you can put towards your cycling obsession.
A skilled bike fitter won’t just ensure that you are in a great position for your new custom Breadwinner, but for bikes that you already have in your collection. A very skilled bike fitter can even help a rider understand what type of work they can do outside of riding to ensure that they are comfortable, injury free, perhaps even more powerful on the bike.
Breadwinner has an affiliated fitter attached to our HQ here in Portland. Endurance PDX has been providing clinical bike fitting services of the highest quality to our local clients for years. The fitters at Endurance combine clinical physical therapy backgrounds and education with a fanaticism for cycling. They bring the ideal high-tech fitting experience to each rider regardless of body type or experience level.
If you are not local to Portland, we are always happy to help you find the best fitter in your area.
Yes. We prefer our frames to leave the shop ready-to-ride. We work with you to select all the components that work perfectly together, meet your budget and suit your tastes. We then expertly assemble and tune your bike before carefully packing and shipping it to you.
Yes. Most of our framesets leave with at least a Chris King headset and sometimes a bottom bracket installed. We’re also happy to fill in the gaps if you already have some parts on hand.

Yes! Absolutely! We encourage it. We hope to demystify the custom bicycle building process as much as possible. However, we are a small team working very hard. If you’d like to talk with one of us in person about your new custom bicycle, please email or call and set up an appointment.
Yes. We have strong relationships with all major parts manufacturers and distributors so we are able to source nearly any part you might want. The custom bike builder on each bike page is designed to give you a great understanding of how we can build your bike and how much it might cost. If there is a special component that is not listed feel free to email us for a quote. We love talking about parts and are happy to help.
We have our favorites and our favorites are typically the components that we keep in stock. We generally offer aggressive, below-retail pricing on stocked bread n’ butter components . After you place your order, we will work with you to specify each and every single component on your bike specifically for your ride style, your performance needs, and your budget.
Each order starts with a $500 deposit through our website.
A detailed description can be found on our Process page.
