Frequently Asked Questions

How long is your wait?

We don’t have a wait list. We start working on your order within days of receiving it so we can finalize details like fit, design, frame options, parts, and paint. We normally ship your new Breadwinner 8 to 15 weeks after the deposit is placed. Unforeseen parts availability and production delays can occasionally result in longer delivery times. With current bike boom and pandemic supply chain disruptions it is taking 5-6 months or more to deliver bikes. We are hoping this changes soon, but for now expect to wait some time for your bike to be delivered.

What are your stock colors?

There are 10 stock paint colors including gloss black, white, metallic silver, Italian red, medium blue, bright green, Forest Service green, Eddy orange, Portland grey and brown. Browse our web site for examples. Each of these options includes our standard Breadwinner light blue accents on the seat tube, chainstay and downtube graphics. We offer custom colors and details on request starting at $250.

Can I get custom paint?

Yes. We offer 3 levels of custom paint starting at $250, $400 and $550 depending on number of colors, complexity and details requested.

Do you do custom sizing?

Yes. All of our bikes are custom designed and made to order to fit you and your riding style.

How does your fitting process work?

Within a few days of placing your order we will send over a questionnaire, which begins a conversation to guide us towards the design of a custom fit Breadwinner just for you.

Do I need to work with a bike fitter?

We have years of experience evaluating bike fits via email and phone. We will discuss what has worked and what hasn’t and use that conversation to guide us to meet your needs. In some rare cases you may need help from a local in-person fitter, but that is usually not necessary.

Do you sell complete bikes?

Yes. We prefer our frames to leave the shop ready-to-ride. We work with you to select all the components that work perfectly together, meet your budget and suit your tastes. We then expertly assemble and tune your bike before carefully packing and shipping it to you.

Do you sell frame sets only?

Yes. Most of our framesets leave with at least a Chris King headset and sometimes a bottom bracket installed. We’re also happy to fill in the gaps if you already have some parts on hand.

What tubing do you use?

All Breadwinners are primarily built from a mix of Columbus Zona, Spirit and Life tubing.

Can I visit your shop?

Yes, however we are not allowing anyone into our workspace to keep our staff and everyone safe.  If you’d like to talk with one of us about a custom bicycle while visiting, please email or call and set up an appointment.

I don’t see the components I want. Can I get ____?

Yes. We have strong relationships with all major parts manufacturers and distributors so we are able to source nearly any part you might want. The custom bike builder on each bike page is designed to give you a starting point and to start you dreaming. If there is a special component that is not listed feel free to email us for a quote. We love talking about parts and are happy to help.

How do I place an order?

A detailed description can be found on our Process page.

Can I get a quote?

Yes. We understand the Custom Bike Builder isn’t the correct tool for helping everyone imagine their dream Breadwinner. Email us or place your deposit to start the process.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We carefully pack and ship all over the world.

Can I pick it up?

Yes. We would love to meet you and show you our shop. We will make an appointment near the completion time of your new bike and have it ready to go. If the stars align, maybe we can even head out for a ride together.

What is your warranty?

We offer a lifetime warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. If your bike breaks because we didn’t do our job right, we will take care of you. This does not cover normal wear and tear, corrosion or crash damage. If something tragic happens to your bike let us know and we’ll figure out the best solution.

What is your refund poilcy?

All frames, parts, and bicycles, are non-refundable. If you have an issue with your frame or bicycle, please contact us so we can correct the issue or exchange defective parts.

Deposits placed at time of order are non-refundable.
