A Breadwinner Build in Indonesia

Posted on: March 8th, 2024

A Stellar Team Made This Bike Possible

It’s not often someone – instead of us – assembles a custom handbuilt Breadwinner steel bicycle. But when it does, it’s usually a pretty special experience.

Hyper Bike Store in Indonesia came to us with a concept of emulating our Breadwinner A-Road display bike from the 2022 Chris King open house in Portland, Oregon. The A-Road has all the best of our most popular road bikes, the Lolo and the B-Road. It features a full Columbus Life tubeset and a larger 35mm Life downtube to give the bike more snap. We also designed around the slightly shorter Enve AR fork to allow for tires up to 35mm with a fender or 38mm without. The narrower clearance and tighter geometry helps the bike carve and sprint like the Lolo, and the bigger tires are ideal for rougher roads.

And as with all Breadwinner bikes, the design choices are yours (we’ll advise and help you select!) and the folks at Hyper Bike Store crafted a beautiful array.

Built with Bike Thompson stem and seatpost, Enve handlebar, Easton Cycling EC90SL crankset, and of course an assortment of Chris King components (R45D hubs, InSet8 headset, and T47 30x bottom bracket) in Midnight finish.

The hubs are laced with Pillars double butted spokes to Light Bicycle AR35 rims and wrapped with Panaracer 35mm Gravel King tires, while Shimano Ultegra Di2 12-speed groupset is on braking and transmission duty.

Other details including Selle Italia saddle, Peaty’s tubeless valves and King Cage stainless bottle cages.
